ECMC Leads Autism Training for Law Enforcement and First Responders

A parent rushes off with a kicking and screaming young child and observers believe the scene is child abduction. An individual displaying unusual behavior in a residential neighborhood is observed looking into homes and police are notified that a burglar is threatening homes. A teenager keeps moving products around on shelves in a department store and security determines that the person is in the act of shoplifting. While all of those situations may be true, it may also be as true that the persons engaged in the specific cited activities have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the people that they first encounter, usually law enforcement or another first responder do not know that they are encountering a person with autism.

ECMC Foundation Presents 27th Annual Springfest Gala at Buffalo Niagara Convention Center

Largest not-for-profit gala in WNY expected to draw over 1,600 attendees

Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) Corporation and the ECMC Foundation today announced that musical legends The Pointer Sisters and Sister Sledge will headline the 2016 Springfest Gala set for Saturday, May 7, 2016; at 6:00 PM, to be held at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. The Gala, the largest not-for-profit gala in Western New York, is expected to draw over 1,600 guests from the business, medical, and ECMC communities for an evening of entertainment, fine dining and celebration. The annual event will raise the highest gross in its history – approximately $900,000, which will benefit life-saving medical services at ECMC.

New York State Amends ECMCC Act to Promote Collaboration

Amendment identifies several initiatives allowing ECMCC, Kaleida Health & the University at Buffalo to continue progress under Great Lakes Health

Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC) today applauded Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for recently signing into law an amendment to the state public authorities’ law, permitting ECMCC to enter into agreements for the creation and operation of an integrated health care delivery services in collaboration with Kaleida Health and the University at Buffalo. The legislation, sponsored by Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes and Senator Michael Ranzenhofer, amended a 2003 state law that had created the Erie County Medical Center Corporation as a standalone public benefit corporation.
