*Exception to these visiting hours can be arranged by the family with the Clinical Manager or designee, in order to accommodate special needs.

Substance Use Treatment Services

ECMC’s inpatient and outpatient programs for substance use are designed to fill a variety of needs. All programs provide comprehensive medical and psychological treatment methods and are certified by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and The Joint Commission.

  • An Emergency Department substance use counselor is available 24 hours daily to provide substance use disorder assessments, determine appropriate level of care, and facilitate referral and placement. For more Information: (716) 898-3471

Outpatient Substance Use Treatment Services

Last Year, ECMC cared for patients with substance use disorders through nearly 40,000 outpatient treatment visits.

Outpatient Programs offer substance use evaluations, short and long term individual counseling, group therapy, psychiatric consultation, and medication assisted treatment services including Suboxone, Naltrexone, and Vivitrol.

The compassionate psychiatry and substance abuse specialists at ECMC work with patients struggling with a variety of substance abuse conditions. On both an inpatient and outpatient basis, our experts treat conditions including:

  • Alcoholism
  • Drug addiction
  • Chronic relapse
  • Drug or alcohol withdrawal

At ECMC, we offer specialized alcohol and drug addiction care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Some of the services we offer include: 

  • Emergency Department chemical dependency counseling
  • Intensive rehabilitation services for becoming and remaining substance-free
  • Psychiatric assessments and follow up
  • Family counseling and therapy
  • Group counseling
  • Chemical dependency treatment for adolescents
  • Comprehensive suboxone treatment, encompassing counseling and physician visits
  • Counseling for the family and friends of patients

In addition, we offer specialized programs for patients diagnosed with both a mental health issue and addiction:

  • Dually Diagnosed Treatment – this service allows counselors to provide treatment to individuals diagnosed with both a mental illness and chemical dependency
  • Post-Traumatic Syndrome Disorder (PTSD) Treatment – this specialized treatment addresses the needs of patients who struggle with symptoms relating to the dual diagnoses of PTSD and addiction
