ECMC has long been known as the destination for lifesaving care when Western New Yorkers experience trauma or a medical emergency.

Every year, our team of doctors, nurses, and other specialists save hundreds of patients critically injured through accidents, violence, or severe medical issues. Often arriving by helicopter, these critically injured patients are treated immediately by a specialized medical team. Recently verified as a Level 1 Trauma Care Center by the American College of Surgeons, ECMC has a powerful commitment to incredible care because the medical emergencies we face every day demand nothing less.

In addition, ECMC also offers The Roger W. Seibel, MD, Burn Treatment Center, the only unit of its kind in Western New York. With 24-hours-a-day burn care by a specially trained burn healthcare team, extensive rehabilitation programs, and comprehensive psychosocial support, The Roger W. Seibel, MD, Burn Treatment Center is an integral part of ECMC’s trauma care services.
