Revisional bariatric surgery encompasses many different procedures following a variety of initial bariatric operations. Patients are not considered candidates for revisional bariatric surgery until they have exhausted all conservative attempts at weight loss without success.
Potential revision candidates are required to undergo evaluation by Ann Marie LiCausi, LMSW and Jennifer Turesky, MS, RDN, CDN, CDE to ensure there are no eating behaviors or habits contributing to the patientʼs inadequate weight loss or weight gain. Revisional bariatric surgery has been shown to produce weight loss, as well as health changes like:
- Lower blood pressure
- Lower cholesterol levels
- Improvement of type 2 diabetes
