Nursing Opportunities

At ECMC, we recognize the special role that nurses play in bringing patients dedicated, compassionate care and increasing chances of positive patient outcomes.

At ECMC, we recognize the special role that nurses play in bringing patients dedicated, compassionate care and increasing chances of positive patient outcomes. Our Critical Care department nursing staff consists exclusively of RNs, while our Emergency Department is made up of RNs and LPNs, with nearly 95% being RNs. Our medical and surgical areas have a 75% RN presence. We also look to use full-time nursing staff to ensure continuity of care—approximately 80% of our staff are full-time employees, though part-time and per diem positions are also available to offer flexibility.

Mirroring the commitment our nurses deliver every day, we offer a positive growth environment for nurses, with a number of benefits and a robust support system, including:

  • Individualized orientation for each new nursing employee
  • Continuing education, including a comprehensive preceptor program
  • Ongoing training on nursing methodology, practice, emerging technology, and more
  • Tuition reimbursement

In addition, ECMC is unique among many local hospitals in offering the Nursing Loan Repayment program, designed to assist facilities that care for the underserved population by providing loan repayment for nursing staff. Nurses who commit to two years of full-time service may qualify for 80% of payment of loan balances up to $30,000.

Our emphasis on education and training allows ECMC nurses to develop their skills and medical interests with confidence in a variety of settings—and encourages them to grow their career with compassion and caring.

Finally, as a teaching hospital, we recognize our responsibility to the community to prepare tomorrow’s nurses to care for patients and families. We are proud to participate wholeheartedly in the training of nursing students to meet this obligation, and acknowledge our responsibility to monitor the quality of care delivered.
