Joseph T. Giglia II, Esq  |  Chief Human Resources Officer

Joseph T. Giglia II is the Chief Human Resources Officer for ECMC. Joe brings nine years of healthcare industry experience with a total of nearly 10 years of VP of HR experience to his leadership position. As head of ECMC’s Human resources, he is responsible for integrating ECMC’s strategic initiatives with the HR objectives, building on ECMC’s strong culture and developing further the institution’s legacy of high quality patient care, clinical excellence, community-based service, and empathy for every patient that comes to ECMC no matter their background or condition.

Joe was educated and trained as a labor attorney and functioned in the capacity of VP of HR for Catholic Health System for six years (2009-2015) and as the System’s Director of Legal, Corporate Human Resources from 2006 to 2009. From 2015 through September 2018, Joe served as the VP of HR and General Counsel for The Buffalo News where he directed, developed and improved all legal matters and department operations in employee and labor relations, compensation, benefits, security, pension, recruitment, policy and work rules. Collectively, Joe is well acquainted with, and is highly competent in, creating, leading, and directing HR initiatives in healthcare environments. He is strategic, forward thinking, and operationally minded.

Joe is a native of Buffalo and has been a resident of Western New York for many years.
