Biography

Dr. Vinayak Gokhale is an attending psychiatrist at ECMC and clinical assistant professor, Psychiatry, University at Buffalo. He primarily cares for patients in ECMC’s CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program). He is licensed to practice in New York State and has served as a UB Faculty member (2000 to present). He has worked in CPEP (2000–2005) and again (2018 to present). He has treated ECMC behavioral health inpatients (2005-2006 and 2014-2018). He has previously worked with outpatients and inpatients at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center (2006-2013). He has also worked as an outpatient provider at Western NY Psychiatric Practice and consultant at South Buffalo Mercy Hospital. In India, he was a lecturer in Microbiology at his alma mater, B.J. Medical College–University of Pune. He has served as president of the Western NY Psychiatric Society and the Buffalo Psychiatric Center Medical Staff Organization. He has published his research in peer-reviewed journals including Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research and the Journal of Neurochemistry. He speaks multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu.
