Biography

Dr. Matthew Ruggieri is an attending psychiatrist in the CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) at ECMC. There, he works with psychiatric residents and other mental health professionals to provide timely, effective psychiatric care in an acute setting.

Additionally, Dr. Ruggieri focuses his clinical practice on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, with special interest in neuropsychiatric manifestations of brain disease, geriatric psychiatry, and somatic therapeutic modalities, including electroconvulsive therapy.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Matthew Ruggieri serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he oversees medical students undergoing their psychiatry clerkship.

He also provides clinical supervision to residents completing their emergency psychiatry rotation in CPEP.
