Before Your Surgery

Our Preadmission Testing Clinic is here to ensure you have a safe and informed surgical experience at ECMC.

Your surgeons office may provide you with our Pre-admission testing screening form, or one of our screening nurses may call you to ask the questions.

This form is a will ask some basic Health History questions and go over a list of your medications. This information will help us to take great care of you when you come on your day of surgery.

You may return the screening form by emailing it to ECMCPreAdmit@ecmc.edu or faxing it to (716) 898-5989.

Preadmission Testing in-person visits

If you have responded “YES” to any of the questions on the screen, we will likely ask for you to meet with you at our Pre-admission Testing Clinic.

This visit will allow us to ensure you have all the necessary testing that is required.

Our Clinic has a Nurse Practitioner available to perform a medical exam/ optimization in the event you cannot get in to your Primary Care Provider or if you do not have one  (Please let us know if you require this BEFORE the appointment).

If you are scheduled for a medical optimization appointment, please come 20 minutes early to complete the Pre-Admission Health History form.

Anesthesia consults are available on request.

You do not have to fast for your pre-op labs.

We encourage you to bring:

• A complete list of your medications (if not already provided.
• A support person (family, friend, significant other).

We will review pre-operative Instructions with you at your appointment to discuss any that are specific to you.
