Injury Prevention
Programs
Let’s Not Meet by Accident
This reality-based program focuses on the teen driver and addresses safety issues, including impaired driving and distracted driving. Students get a glimpse of the care of a trauma patient at the scene of a crash from EMS providers. Participants are walked through trauma care in the Emergency Room, and a visit to the Trauma Intensive Care Unit demonstrates the reality and the consequences of being involved in a motor vehicle crash. The program concludes with a “Contract for Life” and a “No Phone Zone Pledge.” A classroom-based program is also available. Please call (716) 898-5184 to request a presentation.
Falls Prevention
The Trauma Program is available to speak to your group about fall prevention topics as they relate to older adults. It is also possible to set up an information booth at your event. We are able to conduct balance screenings and display safety items from our Falls Prevention Tool Box. Please call (716) 898-5184 to request a presentation.
Violence Intervention
This is a program designed for young adults at risk of engaging in violence. Participants will visit the Emergency Department and Trauma ICU to hear the staff explain the care of the trauma patient and the lifelong consequences of poor decision making. Our Trauma Chaplain discusses the impact of violence on others, as well as keys to success in life. The participants will be given tools and resources to make a commitment to a life of non-violence. This program can be modified to be held at your location. Please call (716) 898-5184 to request a presentation.
