Vice President of Critical Care and Emergency Services
Tina Allen, RN, BSN, MBA, has been appointed to the position of Assistant Vice President of Critical Care and Emergency Services. Tina started her career at Erie County Medical Center over  fteen years ago working to help bring exceptional patient care to our community. She began as a staff nurse on the surgical and orthopaedic  oor on 7 South. Shortly after, Tina transferred to the Emergency Department, where during the next ten years she supervised and developed collaborative multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimum patient outcomes in a demanding, fast-paced critical care environment. Tina also trained as a SANE nurse (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).
Tina’s most recent position was as a Nursing Care Coordinator. In that role she supervised and directed all aspects of facility- wide operations during off-shifts. Tina is very active with Emergency Preparedness activities, Advanced Disaster Life Support and has completed multiple FEMA trainings. During the past six years Tina has also served as an ACLS/PALS instructor for Buffalo CPR.
Tina graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo
with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2002. In 2017, after completing a LeapFrog Capstone project and international internship in Shanghai/Beijing, China, Tina graduated from SUNY at Buffalo with an Executive MBA. Tina is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses and UB ALUMNI Association.

    Nicole DeRenda, RN, BSN, MS-MHA, is newly appointed to the role of Director of Nursing Education for Medical Surgical Services. Nicole began her ECMC career in 2002, where she began on the Closed Head Injury and Spinal Cord Unit on
8 North and later joined Patty Kiblin’s team on 10-South. In 2004, Nicole joined the Trauma ICU and also Burn TICU teams until becoming a Nursing Care Coordinator for the Hospital in late 2010. In 2014, Nicole became a Nurse Manager of a combined Orthopaedic and Observation Unit (8 zone 1), then worked collaboratively with Leadership to open 6 Zone 1 for the hospital’s growing Orthopaedic surgery population. Nicole’s certi cations include FEMA Disaster certi cation and she formerly served as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor (ACLS).
Nicole rejoins ECMC from her most recent titles at Kaleida Health, where she served as Director of Nursing for Critical Care and Director of Nursing Education & Development at BGMC and GVI from 2015 – 2017. Nicole is a consultant for People, Inc.
A proud member and Board Member of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nursing Association, Nicole is also an active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the New York Organization of Nurse Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the UB Alumni Association. Nicole serves the community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kevin Guest House, and is an active volunteer with Hospice and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
