Connected Compassionate Care Series
In MedSurg we began our Connected Compassionate Care Series which is centered on sharing ideas on how we can get back to the basics. Our patient advocates will be meeting with staff to deliver our short program each month. Our topics have included “A Walk in Someone Else’s Shoes,” “It’s The Little Things,”and “Rounding with Purpose.”
We are interested to hear what topics you would like us to touch on in our Connected Compassionate Care Series. Individual ideas and oor ideas are welcome! If you have any suggestions, speak to your Patient Advocate or Unit Manger!
Kindness Coin
Kindness: ECMC is bursting with teammates that de ne Kindness! Our mission states that we will provide every patient with the highest quality of care, delivered with compassion. We have strived to create a culture of kindness, from the greeters at the front door, to our housekeepers, caterers, maintenance, and to all our clinical staff.
The Kindness Coin celebrates our fabulous teammates that have embraced Kindness. We started out with coins in nine different areas: Med/Surg, ED, OR, ICU’s, Rehab, Ambulatory/Clinics, Dialysis, CPEP & BH.
The rst recipients in these areas were picked by management as those who are kind to patients, visitors, and co-workers. They are teammates that show up to work each day with a

positive attitude. They provide every patient the best possible experience, even when faced with challenging situations.
Then the coin will travel...... Each recipient will pick another person to pass the coin to-a teammate in their areas who they believe deserves to receive the coin.
Check out the Kindness Coin bulletin board in the employee hallway. We’ve already passed out 12 coins. Watch as the coin moves from teammate to teammate around the hospital!
If you’re lucky enough to work with one of these remarkable Coin recipients, congratulate them and thank them! They are helping our patients have the best experience possible and helping make everybody’s day better!
