Orthopaedics – Muscle/Bones/Sports Injuries
ECMC’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers comprehensive care in the management of severe disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal (muscle/bone) system. Areas of expertise include arthritis surgery and total joint replacement; treatment of fractures and severe musculoskeletal trauma; reconstructive surgery; sports medicine; as well as foot-ankle, shoulder and hand surgery.
Introducing a promising new treatment for shoulder pain
Philip Stegemann, MD, and Paul D. Paterson, MD, successfully perform Reverse Total Shoulder surgeries on many patients at ECMC. The medical center is the appropriate environment in which to carry out this procedure because of it’s advanced orthopaedic surgical facilities.
Patients who suffer from chronic shoulder pain caused by chronic rotator cuff tears now have access to a remarkable new procedure. The surgery typically restores use of their shoulders within three to six months. The procedure significantly reduces shoulder pain while vastly increasing arm and shoulder mobility for patients.
