Skilled Nursing Facility

The skilled nursing facility (SNF) at ECMC features a nurturing, home-like environment with the best in comprehensive, long-term healthcare. Serving residents with a broad range of needs, from the young adult dependent on a ventilator to the senior who requires help with daily living activities, the nursing home is staffed with registered nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as a team of licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants. Critical care services are immediately available. The SNF features two special units—the Ventilator Unit and the Sub-Acute Unit.

The ECMC–Skilled Nursing Facility specializes in:

• Skilled nursing care

• Short-term orthopaedic and sub-acute care (a separate and dedicated unit)
• Dementia and Alzheimer’s care

Orthopaedic Short-Term Rehabilitation Unit

This 20-bed unit is designated specifically for patients who recover from surgery and need rehabilitation so that they can return home. Dr. Mary Welch oversees the medical care, specializing in rehabilitation following hip, knee and other orthopaedic surgeries and ensuring that patients return home as soon as possible. Residents receive 24-hour registered nurse and respiratory care coverage and a full range of therapy, including physical, occupational, speech and audiology. The staff-to-resident ratio is 1:2.
