Continuing Care
ECMC’s Continuing Care includes the 586-bed Erie County Home, a skilled nursing facility; a 136-bed hospital-based skilled nursing facility at ECMC (which includes a 10-bed ventilator unit and a sub-acute unit); and a 25-bed acute geriatric unit dedicated to the special needs of seniors residing in nursing homes. In addition, an 18-bed geropsychiatry inpatient unit, established as part of behavioral health services in 1998, complements and expands specialized geriatric care at the ECMC Corporation. As part of the ECMC Rehabilitation Center’s occupational therapy service, ECMC also offers a unique driver evaluation program for seniors and others with physical, cognitive and visual impairments.
