Renal/Hypertension Clinic
The Renal/Hypertension Clinic is held weekly and provides expert evaluation and treatment services for the following conditions:
- Chronic kidney disease
- Hypertension
- Kidney stone problems
- Electrolyte disturbances, such as low potassium, high potassium, low sodium, etc.
- Abnormalities of kidney anatomy, including evaluation regarding kidney cysts, masses, etc.
All attending physicians are fully trained nephrologists and include:

- Mandip Panesar, MD
- Aijaz A. Gundroo, MD
Early intervention and education are critical to slowing the progress of kidney disease. At any stage of renal failure, patients have available the full resources of ECMC’s state-of-the-art facility, including our Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program.
Referrals
Patient referrals come from ECMC's health network as well as other providers, including the Veterans Administration Medical Center and other local health systems. The clinic provides more than 800 consults annually.
Education
The Renal/Hypertension Clinic is part of the nephrology fellowship, which means patients are evaluated and treated by and with fellows, but under the supervision of attending physicians. Medical students and housestaff also rotate through the clinic and are supervised by an attending physician in nephrology.
