Ministry of Health process
ECMC will help you through the healthcare bureaucracy to get you care faster. After the initial consultation, if you are a candidate for a surgical procedure and you wish to proceed, a Care Coordinator will explain the Ministry of Health approval process and give you the information you need.
Your primary physician in Canada will need to complete a "Prior Approval Application for Full Payment of Insured Out-of-Country Health Services" form and submit it to the Ministry of Health for you. If your request for services is approved, your Care Coordinator will contact you to schedule a procedure date. This process can take a few days or a few weeks, but we will do all we can to speed the process for you.
If the Ministry of Health does not approve your procedure, you can still choose to have ECMC perform it, but all charges will then have to be paid by you, in full, prior to the procedure date.
