Acute Geriatric
Inpatient
A unique highlight of ECMC's Geriatric Services is the Acute Geriatric Unit, focused on the specialized care of acutely ill seniors. The physicians (also known as geriatricians) who service the unit have received geriatric training and certification to treat the senior population of the unit. Additionally, the entire healthcare staff including the nurses and aides on the unit has undergone special training in the care of the elderly. Patients admitted to this special unit receive a continuation of high quality care by the same team of geriatricians who treat the patients at their nursing homes.
Outpatient Geriatric Care
Dr. Larisa Meras, an internist specializing in geriatrics, is on staff at the Cleve-Hill Family Health Center. Meras is just one of many ECMC professionals who can help seniors with preventive care, treatment and recovery.
