Annual Giving
These gifts are normally in response to a mailing and are contributions for the current, unrestricted use of the medical center to help defray the operating costs and to support our patient care priorities. These donations help ensure the day-to-day operation of ECMC and the Lifeline Foundation.
Corporate Giving
Many businesses and organizations designate ECMC as the recipient of their employees’ charitable contribution programs or through their overall corporate charitable giving policy. Through special Lifeline events such as our annual Tournament of Life Golf Classic, Springfest Gala and Auction, and Western New York Runs for Heroes, your organization can provide sponsorship as a part of ECMC’s corporate support network. Corporate gifts to the ECMC Lifeline Foundation are a critical source of revenue for the purchase of new equipment for the medical center as well as the establishment of educational programs and vital research in the areas of trauma, kidney disease, emergency medicine, psychiatry, clinical pharmacology, and several other medical specialties.
Major Gifts
Whether a one lump sum donation or a gift pledged to payment over several years, a major gift to the ECMC Lifeline Foundation may provide the resources for a surgical suite, a lounge for the use of patient families, or the purchase of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. Major gifts provide a significant impact for patients and medical professionals for years to come.
Capital Giving
For decades, ECMC has created breakthroughs in trauma and emergency care by developing practices, procedures, and devices that have since become standards of care in hospitals throughout the world. By investing in the human and physical resources necessary to provide exemplary cardiac care, a high level of transplant success, and the largest emergency department in Western New York, ECMC continues to provide outstanding care to all patients, regardless of their medical condition or financial circumstances. These investments would not be possible without the continued support of organizations and individuals throughout our community.
Corporate and private donors support ECMC Lifeline Foundation’s capital programs through donations of property, securities, cash, and pledges of gifts over the long term. Capital giving also offers donors the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy through the naming of an ECMC service or facility in honor of an individual or organization.
Memorial Tributes and Gifts In Honor
Memorial tributes are gifts that are offered to remember a family member, friend, or other beloved person whom you wish to memorialize.
Gifts can also be made in appreciation and in honor of an ECMC physician, department, or
professional group that was critical in the life and recovery of a loved one, or former patient. Tributes are a fitting way to honor any person who has been important in your life.

Planned Giving
“Planned gifts” allow you to make a significant gift while maintaining financial security for you and your family. Bequests, retirement plan designations, gifts of life insurance, gift annuities and charitable trusts are just a few types of “planned gifts.” These gifts often provide attractive tax advantages and other financial benefits for the donor and their beneficiaries. You should always consult with your personal financial planner and/or attorney while making your planned giving decisions.
